AV-Comparatives again endorsed ESET NOD32


According to the results of comparative tests conducted by the Austrian lab AV-Comparatives, ESET NOD32 Antivirus received the highest status «Advanced +».

Recall, the laboratory of Andreas Clementi AV-Comparatives carries out two types of comparative testing antiviral drugs: a retrospective (Retrospective / ProActive Test), to assess the ability of products from different manufacturers face unknown threats with proactive protection technologies, and research on the general level of detection of malicious software - on -Demand »(On-demand comparative).

In February 2008, conducted a comparative test to determine the threats to "on-demand» (On-demand comparative). It was attended by 16 products of leading world producers of anti-virus protection. The first part of the test included a study of the effectiveness of anti-virus software in the identification of viruses from its own collection of AV-Comparatives. At this stage, ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 3.0 has successfully identified 100% of macro viruses, and showed one of the best results for the detection of other forms of malware.

The second part of the test was designed to study the effectiveness of antivirus software for detecting polymorphic viruses. This type of malicious software is able to "fly" change your code, which greatly complicates its detection by traditional means. In the February tests we used eight different versions of polymorphic viruses. Test results showed that ESET NOD32 Antivirus successfully detected 100% of polymorphic viruses from the collection of AV-Comparatives. A similar result is found five products involved in the testing.
